Perkins Wildlife Center

The Cleveland Museum of Natural History has engaged in an exciting transformation timed to coincide with its upcoming centennial in 2020. Thinc designed four new galleries 'Astronomy & Cosmology, Ohio, Smead Discovery Center, and the Living Planet' to offer fresh opportunities to engage with the natural world in an environment of wonder, exchange, exploration, and joy.

The first phase of this project, The Ralph Perkins II Wildlife Center and Woods Garden, opened in September 2016. It provides intimate and memorable encounters with many of Ohio's native species and diverse ecological systems in action. Innovative, suspended animal trails immerse visitors in natural habitats and encourage them to wander with the animals, not just than look at them. Parallel play activities: slides, balance lines, and a range of others—encourage empathy with the animals and understanding of their unique capabilities.
