Content Developer
As a Content Developer at Thinc Design, you will be part of a community of creative individuals who are dedicated to helping others learn and grow through enriching, multi-media exhibits and experiences across the country and around the world. As a key member of the Content Team, you will directly support senior members of content staff in finding, assessing, and organizing information and stories that are used for projects as diverse as the Empire State Building, Seattle Aquarium, World Expo 2020’s Terra Sustainability Pavilion, Milwaukee Public Museum, and National Pulse Memorial & Museum.
- Support Thinc’s design teams in developing content and storylines for exhibitions and multi-media experiences that cover a variety of topics, including science, history, natural history, popular culture, art history, and more.
- Conduct in-depth research across a range of topics, disciplines, and perspectives.
- Determine relevancy and accuracy of printed, online, and first-person resources, including academic papers, journalism, popular information networks, original art and artifacts, etc.
- Summarize information clearly and accurately.
- Filter and sort sources and information for team members.
- Fact-check sources and the Studio’s own work.
- Copy-edit internal documents for correct and easy-to-understand written English.
- Find and locate photographs, art, audio, and video for potential use in exhibitions.
- Handle multiple projects and project teams simultaneously.
- Manage competing priorities to meet tight deadlines.
- Ensure timely completion of work.
- Attend and/or participate in workshops, seminars, conferences, and other professional development activities.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with team members.
The content team is responsible for creating content for all of Thinc’s projects. This work includes identifying and distilling key messages, themes, and big ideas, conceptualizing stories, and crafting narratives that are the foundation of Thinc’s design work. Team members are responsible for keeping projects anchored in those narratives for the duration of the project, ensuring that content is delivered clearly, accurately, and creatively in everything Thinc designs. In addition, you will be a member of multi-disciplinary, project-specific design teams, collaborating with graphic designers, 3D designers, architects, project managers, and media developers.

- Comfort using Microsoft Office and other digital tools and equipment to create and manipulate text documents, spreadsheets, images, and other digital assets. Some familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.

Exhibition Designer
The successful candidate for our Exhibition Designer position will have a keen interest in working as a key team member on world-class exhibition projects at varying scales with strong, culturally-based interpretive and experiential qualities. Experience in all phases of the design process, a penchant for working within collaborative team settings, and an interest in thinking and working out-of-the-box are essential.
- Act as designer within a multidisciplinary team and under the supervision of a project manager on one or more projects simultaneously.
- Contribute to creative design development and form-giving
- Develop designs through hand sketching, in 3D software, CAD, and Revit,
- Visualize design ideas as shaded models, physical models, or sketches
- Draft and produce drawing sets as part of a coordinated team of designers
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as exhibition designer or as designer in exhibition-related field or a professional degree in design
- Capability for creative application of design in a mixed physical-digital exhibition environment
- Experience in CAD-based design and documentation.
- Must be creative, energetic, inquisitive designer with good sketching skills and 3D spatial awareness
- Curiosity toward different subject matter is essential.
- Must be capable of working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, taking direction and constructive criticism from others, and maintaining tight timeframes.
- Background in exhibition, architecture, theatrical design, or industrial design.
