Ancient Americas

This exhibition reflects the stunning cultural diversity of the early Americas that few modern Americans know. 2,300 artifacts that span more than 12,000 years of humanity in the ancient Americas are displayed and interpreted to reveal the patterns of cultural evolution they contain. Organized around stages of cultural complexity that link contemporary complex societies to those of the most ancient peoples, the exhibit creates a mirror that enables visitors to see themselves as part of an ever-evolving cultural world.
